Leash Your fitness is all about being active with your pet. We have daily fitness classes and monthly activities like yoga, kayaking, hiking, camping, etc. Anything to spice up your daily dog walks so that you can bond with your best furry friend and get a great workout. Jack is our Cairn Terrier mascot who will keep you updated on all of the fun events that he has coming up and show you photos of the ones that we already had. Make your dog walks a workout walk. Incorporate exercises along the way to help with your upper body and leg strength. Your dog is the best workout partner. They never make excuses and are always eager to go outside. You are already going on a walk to exercise your dog, so why not mix in some stretches to exercise yourself? Don’t forget last weeks tip! Always have water and keep yourself and your dog hydrated.
Read more →What a BEAUTIFUL day for Doga Yoga on the water at the Em”bark”adero! Tammy from “Find Your Sweet Spot Yoga” did a fine job of leading our Leash Your Fitness participants in the class. We had 19 dogs in attendance and we collected 4 bags of donations for the Baja Animal Sanctuary and also gave them a portion of the proceeds from our class. Read more →Mommy had her Grand Opening event in Poway today! It was a little cool this morning, so it was the perfect weather to sample some of what we do in the Leash Your Fitness classes. The instructors even turned some of the drills into a competition and gave out some water bottles and t-shirts for winning. Denise from K9 Care by Denise was also there giving some massages to some of my friends and Meagan and Kelly were there from Collared Scholar dog training making sure all of the dogs were doing what they were told. Tess from Pet-i-cures by Tess did an AWESOME job of getting the word out about our new North Park Leash Your Fitness class that starts at Paw Pleasers. There were so many cool dogs there –oh yea, their owners were really cool and very pretty!! 🙂 Honest Kitchen donated all kinds of treats and food for our raffle that was won by Joanne and Kelly–their dogs are so lucky!! Read more →Make sure your dog drinks plenty of water during your walks and hikes—especially as the temperature starts to rise. Remember that dogs do not sweat like we do—they cool off by panting, and through the pads of their feet and their nose. Some breeds are more susceptible to overheating than others. If you are going to exercise, try to do so in the early morning hours before the sun gets too high or later in the evening when it cools down. Remember, always have water ready for your dog and don’t push them too hard!
