Volcan Mountain HIke

Volcan Mountain HIke

Volcan Mountain was a great location to move our Leash Your Fitness March hike to when we had an unseasonably warm March Saturday!  It was a BEAUTIFUL day in Julian! We got an early start and our runners and hikers set off together up the mountain at 8:30 a.m.  Remember when hiking with dogs, you have to beat the heat!   We headed up the mountain from the beautiful starting gate on the fire road.  Approximately 1/2 of a mile into the hike we turned right on to the 5 oaks single track trail. This trail is a bit more

Valentines with your Furry Friend

Valentines with your Furry Friend

We LOVE spending Valentines Day with our furry friends.  At Leash Your Fitness, we had a jam packed weekend of fun and active ways to wear off the box of chocolates.     It all started Saturday morning with 25 dogs on a hike / run that started at the West Sycamore Canyon Trailhead.  We had something for every fitness level!  A 4 mile hike that had beautiful views of the canyon below.  A 5 mile hike that had a challenging climb toward the end.  A 6 mile trail run that included all of the above plus a cool section with lots of beautiful trees.  It was a

Bernardo Peak Hike

Bernardo Peak Hike

The Leash Your Fitness first hike of 2015  was up Bernardo Peak near Lake Hodges!  It was our longest hike yet, 7 miles! We started from the parking lot off of West Bernardo Drive and headed down the hill and across the bridge. The first part of the hike was pretty flat and we even got to cross over some water and I got to go SWIMMING, well not really but I did get to get wet!  We started up the hill, it was a little rocky at times with one steep section but it was pretty easy for most of

Clevenger Canyon Hike

Clevenger Canyon Hike

Our last hike of 2014 was a new hike that mommy and I found while exploring. We like to explore and find new things for our Leash Your Fitness family. We never want them to get bored! Clevenger Canyon is a 5 mile round trip hike that we would say is a moderate intensity hike.  It is 2.5 miles up with a few flat sections mixed in, nothing too extreme!  The trail is well marked and not too rocky. We did run across some red ants so just be on the lookout for those because they aren’t too nice to

Cowles Full Moon Hike

Last Friday we took advantage of the time change and a full moon and went on a night hike up Cowles Mountain!  We had a really fun group of 12 Leash Your Fitness hikers and their pups which included some old friends and some new faces.   Cowles Mountain is the highest peak in San Diego city limits at 1,592 feet, and the trail totals about 3 miles round trip.  At times the trail was steep, but all of our hikers and dogs were up to the challenge!  We were so lucky to have a perfectly clear night and throughout the
