Wayne Fitzgerrell was a fun find!

Thanks so much for joining us on Jacks Journey USA.   I am a 10 year old Cairn Terrier that loves to be outdoors doing fun stuff! Mommy and I are having an amazing time on our 10 week RV journey around the country promoting fitness with your dog!  I have swam in every state and we have been teaching fitness classes around the country.  Feel free to backtrack through the blogs to see all of the beautiful places that we have been!

We ended up leaving Elizabethtown, Kentucky around 5 p.m. for our next stop, we weren’t exactly sure where it was going to be so we just started driving West. We ended up staying in a rest stop in Indiana because mommy didn’t feel like driving anymore, it was getting dark and there was a storm brewing.   It was a cool rest stop, it even had an attendant. He showed us where to park and it was perfect because mommy got awesome photos of the lightning show!

We left early in the morning to go to Wayne Fitzgerrell State Park on Rend Lake in Illinois. Mommy picked it because there was a big lake there. Good thing we didn’t get here last night in the dark because it was super confusing getting a site. The park host told us to save a site because people were circling trying to get lake sites. The rule is that you can save a site with a tent even though you didn’t pay for it. Mommy couldn’t figure out where to go because there were tents on all of the good sites! We finally found a site near the lake and she put her lawn chair on the site to save it because we had to go get groceries and the park hosts weren’t open to pay for the site yet. On our way to the store, we stopped to say HI to the campground deer. There were a lot of them!

When we came back, there was a camper in our site and the Ranger had moved our chair! Mommy was not a happy camper.   She let the Ranger have it! The rule is that you can save it with a tent but not with a chair but we didn’t know that and why would we have a tent with us? She argued so much that he felt bad and opened one of the sites for her that was closed due to flooding. SCORE!

It ended up working out perfect! We were closer to the lake and I got my own little water hole to play in. Watch the video HERE! I played in there for over 2 hours all by myself while mommy read.

The lake was super warm and super big. The day that we arrived was very windy so we just swam and hung out with the neighbor kids. They were racing me in the water, like they had a chance!

The next day was beautiful! Mommy inflated the SUP and we explored the lake. We could see a lot of flooded sites. The neighbor told us that this area had 21″ of rain in June and it had rained for the last 2 weeks of their stay! We just missed it!

We stopped for a few times to swim and so that I could “SUP dive”.

When we got back, we got the neighbor kids and their dog to get on the SUP. They loved it.

It was a nice relaxing stop on our journey. Mommy got a lot of work done while I played in the water. There were no water hookups, only electric but that was ok. There were shower rooms and they weren’t too bad. Plus we got to see the deer again on the way there. There was a running trail that we wanted to explore but it was too hot.

We walked to the end of our camping area to watch the sunset and met two really cool ladies. They were kayaking all day and came to watch the sunset. It was a never ending sunset of red skies. It was so beautiful and another great Grand Finale to our stay.

We are off to see our friends in Kansas City. It should be interesting because she has 5 kids, 2 dogs and a cat! A little different than what we are used so stay tuned!
