Heading South from Portland

Today we got a special surprise!

Welcome back to our travels! If you haven’t been following along, feel free to catch up HERE!  So far we have traveled north from San Diego, CA  to Portland, Oregon and now it is time to travel south!

Our special surprise was that my daddy flew into Portland and is going to be heading south with us.  I was really happy to see him BUT there is one part of this new development that I am not too happy about! I have to give up my seat to mommy so daddy can jacksleepwebjackseatwebdrive.  I am NOT happy about it!   I tried to find another place in Spirit to sit but riding co-pilot is the bomb!

We left Portland at lunch time so we stopped and walked around the city so mommy and daddy could eat lunch.  The nice people in the pizza place gave me a piece of pepperoni.  Just for the record, mommy got a smoothie and daddy got a slice of pizza. (but I saw her take a bite of it!)
jacksandHeading south we decided to head toward the coast so that we could surprise my Aunt Mary and visit her and Uncle Mark in Gold Beach, OR.  It was a smart move because the coast is so much more fun to drive along than I5–boring!  We headed across the 126 toward the coast.

We stayed at Bullard Beach State Park. The beach was really cool!  Miles and miles of romping for me but I will admit that the water was pretty cold.  It was a cool hike down to the water from the campground and once there, I got to DIG and play in the sand and SWIM!  We were the only ones there! hike

catMommy wanted to stop at a very colorful coffee shop at a little beach town in Oregon.  Her and daddy talked to a man for a long time about the people living in the small towns along the coast. While they were chatting away, I was making friends with the shop cat!

The nice man told us about this cool stop so we stopped at this lookout place where they lower the boats into the ocean.  It was really foggy and windy!

We continued to drive and drive and drive until we came to some REALLY BIG TREES!! Wow!!  I looked so tiny next to these trees!  We went on a 5 mile hike through them and it was crazy!  We are going to leave you in suspense for our next weeks travel blog when we have LOTS of photos of them!      Can you even see me in this photo?

We ended this amazing day without a camp site so we stayed in the Parking lot! We were so tired that we didn’t care.

Until next time…… (you may want to sign up for our blog posts to come into your email so that you don’t miss next week’s post–you can sign up on the right of the blog)
