Eli and his mom, Heather were regulars at Leash Your Fitness last spring before summer vacation. It was really fun to watch their relationship and how much fun they had together in our classes. We hope that Eli and Heather inspire other families to find an activities that they can do together as a family!

What made you start coming to Leash Your Fitness Classes?
Eli: I started going because I wanted to be with my mom but then I realized it was super fun so I decided to come to the rest of the classes.
Did you like working out with your mom and your dog Scooter?
Eli: YEP! I liked it because I was working with my two favorite ‘people’. The walking workout/ hiking was the best.

How do you think it helped you?
Eli: It definitely made me way more flexible. And it helped me build a greater bond with Scootie.
What was your favorite part?
Easily the Easter Egg Hunt because I got to do it with Scooter. It’s the only Easter Egg Hunt I’ve done with my dog.

To Heather (Eli’s mom)……
How did working out with your son help your relationship?
Heather: Well, technically I have two sons – one is human and one is canine:)
Before Leash Your Fitness, I was looking for a way to introduce Eli to exercise and build his self confidence. I didn’t want to send him to fitness classes alone and always felt guilty leaving Scooter at home while Eli and I were out and about. When I learned about Leash Your Fitness, I knew it was the perfect solution. We could all spend time together, get healthy and meet other people who were just as crazy about their pups are we are about Scooter!
From our first class, Eli loved it and Scooter’s personality started to shine through. As a rescue dog he tends to be timid and reserved around other pets and Eli would always get frustrated when faced with a physical challenge. But LYF classes became a special time for us to squeeze family time into our crazy schedules and have fun!
Exercising with a group of adorable dogs eased Eli’s frustrations and the socialization has been great for Scooter. Personally, I enjoy exercising with a group of adults outside of a gym while enjoying the beautiful San Diego weather.
