Dog friendly hike and beach in Orange County

We went on another dog friendly road trip last weekend!  We found a dog friendly hike and dog friendly beach in Orange County which is north of San Diego but south of Los Angeles.

Mommy called it a work trip but she loves her “work” so the entire weekend was FUN, FUN, FUN!  We arrived at O’Neill Park in Mission Viejo on Friday afternoon.  It was pretty empty, just the way that we like it but it filled up fast as the weekend rolled on.

We found a really cool hike that took us above the campground so the views were pretty cool!  We were told that it was an out and back but of course we found a trail to make it a loop.  The trail was part trail and part dirt road but it had some really cool sections to it.  There was a road that ran parallel to it and came out at a little area where you could picnic.  That is where we found the trail that took us back down to the end of the campground where the horse enclosures were which was perfect for me because everyone knows that dogs LOVE rolling in horse poop!

It was a really beautiful night and we both got a good night sleep in the RV!

After the class, we went to Momentum Fitness where mommy got a massage from her friend Lisa and I got to take a nap under the massage table.  Mommy got to visit with her friends for awhile but she kept promising me that we were going to go SWIMMING so I was very patient with her.

FINALLY, she took me to this really cool beach called Huntington Dog Beach. It was really big!  I got to run and play with my toy and go SWIMMING!  The bad part was that there was a beach break so it was a little hairy a few times with the rocks but I still had such a fun time.  I played non-stop for an hour.  Mommy got to take some photos of the beautiful sunset but I didn’t care about that!  I was having too much fun playing, digging, running and SWIMMING!

After it got dark, we headed back to the RV.  Of course I made a big mess now that I was covered in sand but mommy is pretty cool. She just wants me to have fun.  We had our dinner in the parking lot and then headed back to camp.

Mommy took me in the shower with her to rinse me off but it didn’t work very well but it did feel good to get the sand off of my belly.
