Traveling through the Redwoods

casino Welcome back to our travel blog!  Did you see that we stayed in a casino parking lot last night?

My grandma and my daddy used to go to the casino to gamble every time she came to visit from Pennsylvania so we think she was watching over us when we couldn’t find a place to stay!  In honor of her, daddy put $20. in the slot machine and WON $50.!!!  So then we had to go to Grandma’s next favorite stop–COFFEE and buy a Starbucks in her honor!! It was a great morning honoring my Grandma!

If you haven’t been following along, please click HERE so you can catch up on the fun!

As you can see, I am still not over the fact that I have to share my seat with Mommy.  I am determined to sit in the front seat at all costs!

elkToday we are headed to the Redwood National Park.    We stopped a long the way to watch this big guy. There were a few elk along the way and it was fun watching them hang out in the fields. Mommy didn’t let me out of the RV but I could see him from the window.

It was fun seeing the Redwood trees.  Those trees sure are big!  We thought that we would share with you some of the photos that we took! I will be honest with you, dogs aren’t allowed on the trails in the forest. It was very early when we arrived so Mommy took me a little bit on the very first trail that we came upon and it was next to a house so it wasn’t “really” in the forest!  So if you go to visit just be aware that you can’t take your furry friend on the trails legally.

In this photo, you can see how big just the roots of these trees are! Crazy!

After we left the Redwood forest, we were so excited to go to Clear Lake to go SWIMMING!  We had planned on spending a few hours there at the lake.  Little did we know that the “Clear” lake was anything but clear! Because of the drought going on in California, there was blue green algae in the lake that is toxic to both dogs and people.  Try explaining THAT to a water crazed dog!  It was so sad!   Lesson learned, always read the reviews before you plan on going swimming anywhere! Many of the swim spots were completely dried up.

swimMommy and Daddy made it up to me by taking me in the Sacramento River swimming!  The water was really warm and it felt great!  They both came in swimming with me!   A travel day is NOT COMPLETE without a swim somewhere!

We hope that you enjoy the photos.  See if you can spot me in the photos.  I look really small!

We have one day left to share with you and then we are going to have to go somewhere new so we can keep our travel blog going strong!
