- I want to workout BUT I don’t have the time.
- I want to eat healthy BUT it costs more.
- I want to lose weight BUT I don’t want to give up my wine.
- I want to hire a personal trainer BUT I don’t have much money.
- I should work out a little harder BUT I don’t like to sweat or feel uncomfortable.
- I need to weight train BUT I don’t want to get big muscles & look like a guy.
How about these for better BUTs….
- I don’t really have time to exercise BUT if I analyze my time, I find that if I cut out TV at night and go to bed a little earlier, I can get up 1/2 hour earlier to exercise so I start my day feeling GREAT!
- A salad may cost more than a 99 cents burger BUT I will feel better after eating it and not have my sugar low at 3 p.m.
- I will give up my wine BUT I will allow myself a glass for every pound that I lose as my reward for working hard.
- I know that I can’t afford a personal trainer BUT I can afford group classes that will help to motivate me and make me work harder.
- I don’t like to sweat or feel uncomfortable BUT I know that if I want my fitness to improve that I need to step out of my comfort box & it will be worth it.
- Weight training does increase muscle mass BUT I won’t look bulky if I get the excess weight off and I can ONLY do that with increasing my muscle mass which will increase my metabolism.
Which BUTs do you like better? There are ALWAYS a million BUT’s that are negative–BUT if you try hard to look at the positive things that fitness & healthy eating will do for you, it will make your journey so much more fun and rewarding!!
Just a few positives of being fit:
- Look better in your clothes
- Have more energy
- Better complexion
- More productive during the day
- Stronger back = less back pain
- Better balance = less falls
- Lower cholesterol which is good for heart health
- Lower blood glucose levels which will prevent diabetes
- Better self-confidence
- Metabolism is higher so you can eat more!
So let’s get back to the first question? How big is YOUR BUT? Is it big enough to warrant not trying a little bit each day to replace something unhealthy with something healthy so that you live a long and healthy life, if not for you then for those that love you, including YOUR DOG!!
