Wet Weekend

What better way to spend a summer weekend than in the water!  This past weekend the Leash Your Fitness dogs did just that!  It was a WET WEEKEND and we loved it!

Saturday, we took 20 dogs out on kayaks.  Yes! I said 20!  It was such a fun group.

We even had a first timer who did GREAT! Bella jumped in once but then she just enjoyed the ride!

Our parents paddled to Fiesta Island and then us dogs had fun swimming and playing with our toys.

It was a beautiful morning on the water and then we all went and had lunch.  Yummy fish taco’s overlooking the bay!  Check out more photos in our Facebook page album.   If you would like to come on our next kayaking adventure.

If you didn’t know it, it is mommy’s birthday month.  She has been giving GIFTS to everyone all month. (If you refer someone to class, you get a cool gift.) and last weekend she gave us dogs the gift of a POOL PAW-TY at Markim Pet Resort after our Sunday class.

It was soooo fun!  Mistie was jumping for joy!

Brandie started out not being sure about the water but she didn’t want to miss out on the fun so before long, she was running around and “almost” got in the pool! Next time for sure!

All of the other dogs were swimming the entire time!  A few were even racing!

We had another fun group but all of our Leash Your Fitness people and dogs are fun!  We all have one thing in common, we like to have a good time!

If you want to see more pool party photos, check out our facebook album and watch Canela swim for the first time HERE!  It took a little while but she finally did it!

A few tips for taking your dog swimming:

  • NEVER throw your dog in the pool.
  • Let your dog walk down the stairs so that they can feel safe knowing where they can touch.
  • Show them how to get out on the stairs so they don’t panic on the side of the pool.
  • Wear a life jacket on them to help them feel more secure.
  • Don’t force them in the water. They will go in when they are ready!

Summer is about having fun!!  Swimming is a great exercise for people and dogs! Riley is an 11 year old bulldog and he absolutely loves to swim.  It is the BEST thing for his joints.

Enjoy summer WITH your dog!!
