After Jack’s Journey USA was complete in July, Jack decided that he wanted to keep his adventures going! He has had a very busy summer and it wouldn’t be complete without the Helen Woodward Surf Dog Competition! Here is what he has to say about it…

Every year mommy enters me into the Surf Dog competition but since we have been doing more SUPing this year, she thought it would be fun to do the SUP obstacle course instead.
We arrived to the beach bright and early and the Surf Dog competition was in full swing!! There were thousands of people on the beach watching the Surf Dogs.

We noticed that the tide was coming in and the staff from Helen Woodward was having a hard time getting the obstacle course set up. By the time the event was supposed to take place at 10:15 a.m., it was high tide and the waves and current were pretty strong! Mommy and I were excited because we have an inflatable SUP so we don’t get to ever go in the waves!

They changed the obstacle course to a parade and that was ok with us! Mommy and I stayed standing without falling in the entire time! It was so fun to ride the waves on the SUP!

After we did that, we got to see some of our friends ride the BIG waves in on their surfboards. Our friend, Faith is a paw-some surf dog and her daddy is so proud of her! She has even surfed in Florida and has been featured in news stories all over the world! You can follow Faith the Surfing Pitbull & Team Rockstar on FaceBook & Instagram.

Our friend, Turbo combines Dog Yoga and Surfing for a very unique experience! I think he was showing off his talents! He sure does have fun!

It is so fun to be a part of such a fun sport. Not all dogs love dog surfing or SUPing but you should let your dog try it. They might be a natural! Plus, it is one more way to bond with your best furry friend!

A special thanks to Dale Porter from Killer Image for taking such great shots at the event and to Helen Woodward for putting on such a fun event each year! Also to PAWz booties for providing cool waterproof booties for our feet! That sand is HOT!
