Leash Your Fitness goes to Rome

Since we got a late start from Aunt Lynn’s house in Chautauqua, we didn’t arrive in New Hartford, NY until 5:30 p.m., just in time for dinner at Kelli’s friends house! What a nice group of ladies. They had a big yard for me to run around in after our drive and they welcomed us with open arms. The ladies loved hearing about our adventures so far and we loved hearing their funny stories! I have never heard mommy laugh that hard! It was a great way to start our visit here!

Kelli is a friend of mom’s through the Todd Durkin Mastermind Group. She has been a wonderful mentor and one of the first people that mommy told about our crazy idea of traveling across the country in a RV. So you can thank her for encouraging us to GO FOR IT!

Kelli insisted on us staying in her house instead of the RV so I had to let her dog, Cody,  know who was boss. I guarded his toy box so that he couldn’t get to any of his toys and then I guarded his food so that he couldn’t eat. Mommy said that I was spoiled and that I wasn’t allowed to do that but I really don’t think Cody cared!

Guess where we got to go?  Hiking in the Adirondacks! What a cool experience that was. It was a beautiful drive up into the mountains and the trails were so fun! The view from the top of Black Bear Summit was amazing! We sat up there for a long time and chatted. We had a big group hiking with us, Kelli’s friends and family came along and of course her dog, Cody. Mommy was very nervous about the tick problem so she kept me on the leash most of the time. There sure are a lot of ticks and bugs up here! Lucky for me, I didn’t get any. I am on Revolution and eating a special powder called, PetzLife Tickz that seems to be helping. Mommy sprayed herself with some natural bug spray and it seems to help as well so all was PERFECT! We aren’t letting a few bugs damper our good time!

We were so happy that Kelli’s friend came on the hike with us, not only was she fun to hike with, she had a DOCK on one of the beautiful lakes so guess where we went after the hike! DOCK DIVING! I like to show off for my new friends and they thought it was so funny. The water was cold but I didn’t care! I even inspired Cody to go in the water! Maybe he will become the next dock diving dog! It was so fun playing with my wubba in the water but mommy said I was shaking too much and made me get out. She threw the wubba in the yard to help me warm up and it landed on the roof! Kelli is so awesome; she got it down for me with a kayak paddle!

We had to get home from our full day and rest because mommy had to get up at 5 a.m. to go to Kelli’s TRX class at Studio 8 Fitness. It was the first time that we worked out inside for a long time! The best part was the rings. I was happy that mommy didn’t expect for me to hang from those things but she sure liked them! She took 2 classes with Kelli and they were both good workouts. I on the other hand rested. I try to get all of the rest that I can cause I never know what I am going to be doing next!

All of Kelli’s clients were so nice to us at the studio. It is no surprise that she has amazing people around her because she is one of the most inspiring and positive people that we know. She has a beautiful smile and she makes everyone around her feel special. Her clients love her and so do we!

After all of the working out in the morning, we had to get ready for class! Kelli’s studio, Studio 8 Fitness, was hosting a Leash Your Fitness class for the Freedom Guide Dogs. An organization that trains service dogs for the military, which was perfect since it was the day after Memorial Day!

The class was in Rome, NY so now we can say we taught in Rome! We even made the front page of the Rome newspaper!

We had a great turnout and even people without dogs came to watch. Everyone was amazed at how the dogs listened so well in class and quickly learned what to do. Many went from being hyper and unable to sit to sitting on command and calming down with each exercise. That part is always fun to watch!   Mommy gave a lot of dog tips so that everyone can have a dog that is fun to be with and a pleasure to take places.

All ages came to the class! We had little girls and puppies. We had older people and big dogs! We like to prove that you are never too young or old or too big or small to have fun getting fit and learning new things! Check out the photos HERE!

The best part was that we raised over $400. For the Freedom Guide Dogs! We hope that helps them in some small way and pay it forward to help others in need of a service dog so they too can lead a normal life. Thanks to everyone who came and bought raffle tickets for the beautiful gift baskets!

We were all very tired after our busy day. It is hot and humid here and that tires you out too, us Californians are not used to that! We are spoiled with perfect weather and that is another reason for the journey. We want to see how incorporating outdoor fitness into different areas will work with the different climates. Don’t worry, we give the pups lots of breaks when it is hot!  It is ALL about the dogs in our classes!

The next morning we packed up and headed to our next stop. Mommy got a lot of work done before we left because we never know if we are going to have WI-FI or any cell coverage.   The next stop was a total mystery. We just started driving East and kind of made it up as we went! We just knew that our next stop was on the way to Boston where Kurgo and The Fish and Bone were hosting a Leash Your Fitness class at the Backyard Dash. We are excited to head to Boston so stay tuned….

Mommy and I  really appreciate you following our journey. It has been an incredible time so far and we look forward to the journey ahead!  If you are feeling stuck in your life, maybe you need a little adventure.  Check out this short inspirational blog from our friend Kelli Corasanti, maybe it will help inspire you to plan your next adventure!
