Traveling to Bend, Oregon

Hello again!  Did you see the first part of our latest road trip in our new RV?  If not, you can access it HERE.  We had a blast at Mt. Shasta but then it was time to move on to Bend, Oregon!

We left the campground early and traveled I5 to U.S. 97.  Mommy is the BEST so she stopped at Klamath Falls so I could get out and SWIM!! It was an awesome Sunday morning with nobody around and a great place to jump in and cool off!

La Pine CampgroundWe didn’t stay long and were on the road again toward Bend.  What a pretty drive, except for the fires along the way.  The fire personnel were hard at work and only a few smoldering fires along the road.  KUDOS to all of the hard working fire people!

Mommy found us a cool spot at La Pine Campground along the Deschutes River, a little south of Bend, Oregon.  There were tons of cool hikes where I could SWIM!  The river was a little swift so mommy kept my leash on so I wouldn’t float away.  Mommy even came in with me a few times cause it was REALLY hot!

Mommy was so excited at this campsite because our RV could be hooked up to stuff! Something about electric, water and sewer.  It was our first time with all 3 so mommy was learning how to do everything. She was so excited to take her first shower in 3 days that she forgot to turn the hot water on! Good thing it was so hot outside, the cool water felt good!

Another fun part about this campground was that it rained 2 nights in a row.  We just got back from our hikes and here it came! Perfect timing.  It was so fun and relaxing to hear.

By the time we left this campground 2 days later, we had hiked or ran all 7 of  the hikes.  Mommy is crazy that way.  On one of the hikes we kind of got lost  and there was a storm brewing so we had to hitch hike. These two nice gals picked us up and drove us to a familiar spot so we could hike home.

The trails in Oregon are so awesome!  No trash and very well maintained. They were well shaded and good thing because that dirt got HOT on my feet!   We hiked early and swam during the hot part of the day. We even stopped at one spot so mommy could do her yoga stretches and I could swim without my leash on!  Life is good here in Oregon!

After our second day of hiking, I was bummed that mommy had to ruin it with a bath!  My first bath in Spirit! I can’t help it that I get so muddy even with water all around me!   We have traveled 970 miles so far and tomorrow we head for Mt Hood so stay tuned for our next post!  If you haven’t already subscribed to our blog, you can do that on the right hand side!  Enjoy the photos and SHARE with us if you have ever been camping near the Deschutes River!
