This certainly has been a fun filled 2nd year for Leash Your Fitness. Mommy has so much fun looking back at all of the pictures and fun times that we have had with our 2 legged and 4 legged friends! We have had TV crews, reporters, and even Animal Planet filming our classes for the news, websites, articles and blogs. It was like we were movie stars!
Our year began with a Grand Opening at the Carmel Valley Rec Center, a 2 hour event that was filled with games, food , prizes and of course fitness! We now have morning classes there. Then it was time to celebrate our first year in business with a catered 1st year anniversary party. It was so fun to celebrate our first year in business with a BIG party!
Then in the spring we had our “Spring Fling–Doggie Style” singles Event at the Hotel Indigo. That sure was a lot of fun for a great cause–we raised a bunch of money for SNAP with our partners Dogtown and Pawtopia. Everyone was dressed to impress but the dogs didn’t care who was single–they ran around on the 9th floor and had a blast! Then time to open more classes so more people in San Diego can workout with their dogs! We had our Poway Grand Opening Party and met more cool people in Scripps Ranch and Poway, including Meagan from the Collared Scholar who helps us with our classes in Poway. A little while after that–we had a HUGE Grand Opening in North Park with help from Peticures by Tess and Paw Pleasers. Classes were full all summer in North Park!
The best part of the whole year was the CAMPING TRIP!! 22 people /18 dogs camping for a weekend in the local Laguna Mountains! Me and mommy didn’t want to come home it was soooooo much fun! We went hiking, swimming, ate really well, played games and got real dirty! Nothing could be better!
We came home and began training for the Arthritis Foundation 5K walk. Mommy lead a FREE 6 week program at parks throughout San Diego to get everyone ready for walking in a crowd with their dogs. Our team was the 2nd highest fund raising team in all of San Diego thanks in part to our friend Ricochet. Mommy was so proud of everyone who participated.
Summer was a little cloudy but that didn’t stop us from kayaking, paddle boarding, surfing AND getting followed around all day by the film crew of Animal Planet! That was really cool, we have the video up on our website if you haven’t seen it yet.
Lara from Happy Dog Happy Owner joined our team and lead our Yappy Hour classes in parks around San Diego on Friday nights with Yappy Hour in nearby dog friendly pubs to follow class. From June – September we helped the Baja Animal Sanctuary by donating a portion of all of our Doga Yoga classes and other events PLUS we collected over 20 bags of “dog stuff” for them. They were thrilled! Those dogs from Mexico sure are cute!
The hikes began again in August and we went on some really cool ones. Us dogs even got to swim at a few of them. In October we did another fund raiser for the Susan G. Komen 3 day and helped one of our friends reach her goal. We did a 2 hour class in Morley Field complete with massages for the people and the dogs, facials, raffles prizes, doga yoga and lots of other exercises.
The year wasn’t all fun and games–one of our oldest dogs got sick and was no longer enjoying life so we had a HUGE going away class for him before his mommy had to put him to his forever sleep. It was really sad but he was so happy to see all of his friends and say goodbye before he left us.
Mommy has a special class for all occasions, she likes to celebrate the holidays so we had an Easter egg hunt; 4th of July red, white and blue race class; Halloween costume contest class; and a doggy gift giveaway “games” class to celebrate Christmas.
We also celebrated Christmas with the 25 classes of giving where a bunch of our “dog friendly” business friends donated gift certificates for every class in December. Mommy even had a special class for 10/10/10–she made everyone do everything 10 times. Some exercises were harder than others but everyone got a great workout! We finished the year with a Holiday Party for just the gals–no dogs allowed! The gals got all dressed up and exchanged gifts, ate food and probably talked about us dogs since we weren’t there! It was a great ending to a fabulous year.
