Quad Stretch

Do you run?  Walk? Sit?  If you do, your quadriceps and hip flexors are probably tight.  When they get tight, they pull on your pelvis which in turn may cause back and knee pain.   This stretch is really important to do on a daily basis to keep your legs stretched out and working properly.  You can do it anywhere. Using a prop like a chair or table helps so that you can relax into the stretch.  If you add a little backbend and push your hip forward, you will feel it more.

For an advanced & more intense stretch.  Try getting on the floor and putting your lower leg up against the wall.  You may have to put your knee on a pillow.  Take your time and don’t force anything.

Remember:

  • Always stretch AFTER your workout and when your muscles are warm
  • Hold the stretch for 30 seconds to a minute.
  • On each EXHALE try to take the stretch a little deeper.

Have fun and remember that the more that you stretch, the more limber that you will get.  It does work!
