Happy New Year!! Are you suffering from holiday weight gain like 90% of the population? Do you need to get yourself back into workout mode? Think about mixing things up a bit when you go to the park. Make your workouts more interesting and challenging and maybe you will stick with them this year! We are going to be giving you new ideas each week. Your park may not have exactly what our park has but maybe it will spark an idea that you can implement.
Today’s workout involved the “bleachers” at our park at the Carmel Valley Recreation Center but you could use any set of stairs. Just do your pushups at the bottom each time instead of on each step.
Start at the bottom with 10 pushups or tricep pushups to work your upper body. Ask your dog to SIT while you do them.

Run up the stairs or bleachers. Remember to change legs each time to get both legs an equal workout as you will have a tendency to favor the stronger leg. At the top, find a wall and do a 30 second wall sit working the quadriceps! Remember to put your dog in a SIT or DOWN while you do this.

Then run back down and do 9 pushups this time then run back up and do another 30 second wall sit. Keep repeating this subtracting one pushup each time!
** If you are a beginner, you can start with 5 pushups or subtract 2 pushups each time.
This is a great way to get an all over body workout in, some cardio and some dog obedience.
Have fun and let us know how you did!
