Mt Woodson Full Moon Hike

Tonight the Leash Your Fitness gang  hiked to the top of Mt. Woodson to see the biggest full moon in the last 20 years! 

We got an early start so it would still be daylight when we got to the top so that we could climb on the big rocks!  Nobody was really into climbing around like mommy and I are!  But we all had a great time.  

Aunt Cathy had her homemade dog treats and she shared with all of us dogs!  They are so yummy!!  Thanks Aunt Cathy!

It was a little cloudy so the people had to wait and see the moon –us dogs didn’t really care, we were running around with our light sticks on glowing in the dark and having a blast!  

If you ever want to hike Mt Woodson from the Ramona side there are a few things that you should know. First off, you have to park along the 67 near the CAL Fire Ramona Fire Station road and cars drive very fast on that road so be very careful getting your pup out of the car!  

The trail begins with a large sign for Potato Chip Rock / Hiking Trail.   You will start off paralleling the 67 on a trail and then you will come to the fire road and start your 2 mile ascent.   When you reach the top and see the towers, keep going and you will start a short descent before you see the famous rock on the right.  The line of people waiting to get their photos taken will be a dead give a way that you are there!
