It’s Monday so lets GET MOVING! For today’s Monday Move It exercise, we are going to work on triceps dips. These are great to add to your daily dog walk because you can do them almost anywhere! All you need is a low wall, a bench, a picnic table, or any other similar surface. Add these along your walk and you’ll be rocking strong arms AND working on your dog’s sit/stay! Watch the video here to be sure you have the proper form. To do these dips:
-Have your pup in a sit or down next to you and tell them to stay
-Stand in front of the bench and reach behind you so your hands rest on the bench, fingers facing your body
-Bend your knees until they are at a 90 degree angle – this is the starting position
-Bend your elbows to lower your body down towards the ground, then use your arms to push your body back up to the starting position (you should feel this in the back of your arms). Repeat.
-Remember, the more your knees are bent the easier this exercise is; the more you straighten your legs the harder it becomes.
Add 3 sets of 5 dips along your dog walk next time you and fido head out. Each day add 3 more dips per set. Triceps dips are a great way to work on your fitness and add a little challenge to your dog walk. Let us know how you do! Where did YOU do your triceps dips??
