Have you ever had one of those “moments” where you just couldn’t handle anything else and had to get a way? Sometimes taking a “day off” is the best medicine to clear your head so that you can get stuff done more efficiently. My mommy had one of those moments and I got to benefit from her “day off”.
I don’t know if you heard but she wrote a book about our 25 state journey last year and it is called Jack’s Journey USA. We are really excited to share our journey with you but the process was a lot for mommy to learn. She felt that we needed to get a way for some fun time, she gets grumpy if she doesn’t get her fun time and I don’t mind because that means fun time for me too!
She packed up the RV and away we went to the Laguna Mountains on a Wednesday! It was awesome! There was only one other camper in the entire Laguna campground and we got a sweet spot (#14) right on the meadow!

It was a beautiful day but a little warm so mommy sat and read for a little while until it got cooler for us to take a walk. I couldn’t wait to get down to the lake to go swimming! I was so disappointed when we got there and there was nothing but mud! The lake was gone!

We hiked back to camp and instead of swimming, I sat on guard outside until it got dark. I was very content watching for squirrels. Ok, maybe I chased a few of them but don’t worry, I didn’t hurt any.

We got to see a beautiful sunset right from our RV that night. We felt so grateful to be camping. It was a fun first few hours!

The next day, I was excited to go hiking. I have been having some paw issues so this was going to be the real test! We hiked the Big Laguna Trail for 3 miles…..

We saw some pretty flowers….

I even rested in some for a bit because it was getting warm……

So we turned around because mommy always says that it is all about me and if I am too hot then we turn around! The ground was a little warm on my feet but mostly, it was just hot outside even though mommy said that there was a breeze. (whatever that means)

We headed back to camp…..

…and I watched the squirrels from the shade for awhile longer while mommy read a few more chapters of her book and then we headed home. It was a really fun day and mommy felt MUCH better afterwards. She said that is just what she needed…. Some Fresh Air. Trees. Flowers. Trails. and Jack time!

Mommy felt much better after our little camp retreat. Where do YOU go when you need a break? It is important to have someplace to go even if you just take a gratitude walk on your local trail!
Thanks for reading and if you want to buy one of our books, you can buy it on Amazon or mommy has a whole bunch of them that you can buy on our website HERE or just pay her. (They are $12.41 with tax)
I will even Paw-tograph it for you!
