Who would think that Kayaking could be such an adventure. Our Kayak with your Dog day began with 22 people and dogs on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Mission Bay. While mommy was giving her “talk” to most of the people about how to kayak and about the Seals being in the bay–Lois was getting dumped by one of them! Little bugger came under her kayak and in went Lois and Dezi and all of her stuff–good thing the water was warm! They did a little kayak shuffle and then we were on our way.
Half way across the bay Lucy, Bobbi’s water dog, decides kayaking is for sissies and decides she is going to swim to Fiesta Island. A couple of the other dogs must have been getting antsy because they jumped out too, thank goodness they had doggy life jackets on so their parents could pull them back in the kayak easier.
All was well and we made it to the island where us dogs got to run, swim, eat treats and just BE DOGS!! Thanks so Denise and Ginger for meeting us there with water and treats and a ride back for anyone that wasn’t digging the kayak, not everyone loves it!
Daddy was on a paddle board so a few of the people tried that too, Dan’s dog decided she wasn’t going without him so he jumped on with her! Daddy and Mommy thought that they were in the circus and decided to try some fancy lift and we all ended up in the water, but then they did it again and it was fun!
What a fun group of people and dogs on this trip, we hope that they come back again next month for our Leash Your Fitness July Kayak!!
Most of them even came to dinner with us and we got to watch a bunch of crazy people in red dresses called the Hash House Harriers run past us while we were eating–what an entertaining day it was!
