Who would have thought that 6 years ago when mommy adopted me that she would 1/ Start a fitness company so that others could workout with their dogs and spend quality time with them. 2/ Be entering me into a dog surfing event and that I would come in 2nd in my heat in my first year of surfing. 3/ That I would be part of an AMAZING group of people that love their dogs beyond all belief and do really FUN stuff like surfing with their dogs!
AND……Who would of thought that mommy would get to be the flagger for Buddy the “original” surf dog on his last heat before retiring! He was shredding it out there! I want to be JUST LIKE HIM!!
This past summer, I had the honor of joining the So Cal Surf Dogs. They not only worked with us and taught us how to surf, they became great friends. If you have not heard of Ricochet, she not only helps paralyzed and physically challenged people surf, the raises THOUSANDS of dollars for great causes. Just this past weekend, she delivered over $6,000. for the Helen Woodward Animal Centers orphaned animals at the Surfing event.
We also owe a ton of thanks to Peter Noll and Nani, Peter has spent hundreds of hours helping others learn to surf, being patient and kind and educating people on how to be safe in the water with their dogs. Of course our first doggy surf encounter was with Dozer. His mom and dad, Gigi and Doug, are so full of energy that it is hard to not get excited about dog surfing when they are around. They are so helpful and encouraging that you never want to give up!
Everyone at the So Cal Surf dogs are helpful, nice and just plain in LOVE with dogs! This past Sunday was a blast, the summer was a blast and we look forward to learning more and making it to first place one of these days. For now, I am happy digging in the sand, surfing with my buds and getting a medal here and there!
Thanks to The Surf A Thon FB page for the paw-some pictures! Enjoy! We hope to see you at the beach!
