MIM: Time to STRETCH!

jesswallDo you stretch after you take your pup for a walk or workout?   Stretching is a very important ingredient in your fitness routine and many people don’t take the time to do it.  The best time to stretch is AFTER you are  warmed up.  Your muscles are much more pliable then.

Remember to stretch both sides and compare which side is tighter.  Stretching will help to prevent injuries because if your muscles are tight and pulling your bones into places that they aren’t supposed to be, this will cause a faulty structure.  If you start running or even doing day to day activities on a faulty structure, eventually something is going to give. It may be your neck, lower back, knees, hips, or even feet!  Everything is connected!

One stretch that you may want to try is the one pictured here.  Stand against a wall. Put your elbows at 90 degrees in line with your shoulders.  Raise your arms UP the wall trying to keep your elbows and wrists against the wall without arching your back.  This is a great stretch for those with tight shoulders and who are at a desk all day.

Follow along on the video, these stretches will help your upper and lower body and even get into the sides of your torso that is so often neglected when stretching!!
