Bend to Mt Hood with my dog

Welcome back! If you haven’t been following along on our journey to Oregon, please feel free to go back and read the first BLOG on beautiful Mt. Shasta and the second BLOG post  on our great camping experience in Bend Oregon.  We loved it there!

Leaving La Pine Campground was kind of sad, it was our first time with full hookups and mommy kind of liked the shower part although I didn’t like the bath in the shower part!  The trails and river were super cool BUT time to move north!

We left in the morning as we had places we wanted to stop on the way to our destination, Mt. Hood.  One of the places was Ruffwear headquarters because I lost a booty in the mud at Lake Shasta so we needed a new one.  They didn’t really have their retail area set up yet but everyone was so nice and helpful in the office and they fitted me for new ones that fit much better!   I ended up leaving with 4 new booties AND some dog treats in my belly.

The booties came in handy as the next stop was AMAZING Smith Rock State Park.  It was so awesome there!  Tons of hiking along a river under the majestic red rocks.  There were a ton of rock climbers there that mommy was watching while I swam in the river.  Just as we got to the bottom and started hiking, it began raining.

We turned around and headed back up the trail but didn’t make it far before we met up with two deer grazing.  We had fun watching them and they were very curious about us as well.  Mommy was trying to feed them dog treats but they didn’t want any part of them. We watched them for so long that it stopped raining to we headed back down to hike some more!!

We didn’t make it far and it started POURING with thunder and lightening so we booked it back up the mountain to our car but not before stopping and getting our photo taken together! We have been hiking solo on this trip so far and haven’t seen many people so we took advantage of the first person we saw and it just happened to be pouring down rain! Man did we get soaked! It was so much fun!  Mommy called it swimming in the rain!  It was so refreshing to sit in the RV and eat our lunch and watch the downpour with the mountains in the background. We don”t get to do that much in sunny California!

The drive up to Mt. Hood was really pretty, we were on the 97 and the scenery was cool even though it was raining. 
We camped at Lake Trillium and the view of Mt Hood was amazing. The rain had stopped by the time that we arrived  and the clouds lifted so we could see Mt Hood over Lake Trillium.  Since the campground was sold out, we camped by the dam which was perfect! We were right next to the water and trail so we hiked the 2 mile trail around the lake.  You know that I stopped along the way and swam as much as I could!

Another great day of exploring Oregon! We love this state! The trails are very well groomed and not all rocky like the ones in California and the scenery is awesome. The best part is all of the SWIMMING in fresh water without salt in it!
