Road trip First stop: Mt Shasta

Recently mommy and I took a road trip in our new RV, we named her Spirit because that is what it says on her side but also because mommy and I HAVE a lot of SPIRIT especially when we travel.  In the next few weeks, we are going to share our adventure with you in my blog posts so subscribe to our blog and ENJOY THE RIDE!

We left at 7 p.m. on a Thursday night after mommy taught her Leash Your Fitness Yoga Arms Class.  She wanted to get through LA at night and miss the dreaded traffic.  We spent the first night in a truck stop north of LA.  The truck drivers were very nice to me and one even gave me a yummy treat!

We woke up early, excited to get on the road and head toward our first stop, Shasta Lake.  Mommy wanted us to be all alone so she found a campground with minimal people. It was called Hirz Bay Campground.  As a matter of fact, nobody was anywhere near us! It was AWESOME!  There was a bear that stopped by late at night, but other than that, we didn’t see many people.

Mommy and I had a grand time playing in the muddy water of Lake Shasta.  It was so muddy that I thought my hair was going to be permanently died red mud color but it washed out when we got to Oregon’s clear water but we will save that for our next post! I even got to roll around in the mud when I got out of the water and we had to throw our blanket away because it was beyond washing. I LOVE mud so I was in heaven!

The sad part about seeing Shasta Lake was to see how low  it was.  In this photo, I am standing where the water line is supposed to be.  It is close to where we were camping.  On a good year, we would have had a waterfront site but this year we had to walk down the lake bed to get to the lake.   It is very scary how low the water is but at least we had a little water to swim in and it was deep enough for boats to go by and wave to us!

I was driving mommy crazy because all I wanted to do was swim!  She had to keep throwing the ball in the water for me and I would JUMP IN and get it and then bring it back and this continued on for hours.  She said I needed a break but I really think she is the one that wanted a break so we headed up the long hill to camp BUT lucky for me, it was VERY HOT outside so we ended up back at the lake–SCORE!!

It was so much fun!
