Jack’s Holiday Vacation Adventures

Did you have a fun holiday vacation?  I did!! Mommy and daddy took me to Bodfish for our Vacation Adventure! You are asking, where the heck is Bodfish?! It is close to Lake Isabella near Kernville, CA.  It is a dogs dream!! HUGE lake for me to do my favorite thing, SWIM! Plus TONS of hiking trails!

Jack packsaddle caveOn Christmas day we did the hiking trail named Packsaddle and we hiked to a cave! It was really cool but really dark inside because mommy forgot her light! We were wandering around inside and checking out the place, it was a little low in some places for mommy and daddy! It was up high on the mountain so we had a great view when we had our lunch treats outside the cave.  Mommy and daddy thought that the hike was too short so they lengthened it and we ended up on the same road where we started except that we were approximately 5 miles up the road from the car! The road just happened to be closed because of it being winter so we got to walk right down the middle of the road! It was fun but it got boring so mommy started hitch hiking. Since the main road was closed there weren’t many cars to choose from! The first car that saw us went by us! BUT, they felt bad for me so they turned around and picked us us! They had a FULL car but they made room for us and we squished in the hatchback! It was fun!

The next day, we wanted to play in the snow so we went to the little ski resort called Alta Sierra! There wasn’t much snow so the resort was closed but it was just enough for us! We had the whole slope to ourselves! We were wishing we had  a sled.  Instead mommy threw snowballs at me to catch.  Later in the day we found a hike that had some snow on it so we built a little snow bookworm! He was so cute!jacksnow

The last day that we were there we found a hike that was way out in the middle of nowhere called Lightner Peak.We got a little lost but all was good because it was really pretty and there were a lot of leaves for us to play in.  When was the last time that you played in the leaves! Man, it sure was fun! It is funny when they give the mileage for the trails in the trail books, we always seem to double what they say.

Our Christmas vacation was so much fun! I always get depressed when we come home so mommy took me hiking the day after we returned to San Diego.  We went to a place called Horsethief Canyon.  Mommy promised me that I would get to go swimming so I was really excited!  When we got to the swimming hole it was EMPTY! I was looking everywhere for the water but I couldn’t find it. Mommy is always determined to find water for me so we kept hiking up the dry creek bed and found a really cool little swimming hole for me.  I have to admit that the water was pretty disgusting BUT I swam in it anyway because I LOVE TO SWIM! Again we turned the 3 mile hike into a 7 mile hike by exploring but I didn’t care.  I like to be out roaming around new places and that is why mommy loves me so much! (and the fact that I am cute!)

Enjoy the photos! We hope that your next vacation is an active one!
