Anyone who has ever read “dog books” will testify to the fact that the dog always dies! Why are dog books always so darn sad? In A Dog’s Purpose, W. Bruce Cameron puts a new twist on a dog dying in his book. The dog dies several times throughout the book but each time it is for a new reason. Each time the dog is reincarnated as a new puppy with a new purpose. The dog in the book comes back and takes what he learns from his prior life to find “the purpose” in his new life. The dog finds himself in different situations, families, and sometimes alone but each life is unique. This book will make you laugh, cry, think and wonder about many things. It makes you look at your own life and say “What is my purpose?”
The author did a fantastic job of looking at life from a dog’s perspective and it often made me ponder questions about how my own dog thinks about what I do. The dog was often confused about why the “mom” was yelling at him or why he was being punished when he was just having fun! It shows how dedicated, simple and loyal our dogs truly are. Warning: you may not be able to put this book down once you start reading it! Enjoy………
