We didn’t have much time to see Jasper between the smoked filled days and the pending rain so we took off from our “campsite” in Canmore and headed north. Mommy was still having RV issues and she saw Andrew in the McDonalds parking lot so she stopped. He ended up working on her RV again and fixing the second problem. He was a real life saver for us and now everything is running great.
We got a later start than expected but we were grateful for the blue skies. It was a bit cloudy but we were not complaining. The little bit of rain and wind, got rid of the smoke.
We stopped at a few waterfalls. The first was Tangle Falls. She was looking for Mtn Sheep.
Then came Sunwapta falls The water here is crazy fast. The waterfalls are like none that we have seen before.
We drove north and the views along the way were incredible.
Ok, I won’t lie, I took a nap…..
But mommy made lots of stops to take photos.
She stopped at Athabasca falls and took a walk.
She finds stairs wherever we go and these were pretty cool since they were made in between the rocks.
The water flowed through narrow canyons.
She read that the water in the Athabasca river links the water in the Columbia Ice field to the salt water of the Arctic Ocean. Pretty cool, huh? No way I was swimming in that river. It was flowing way too fast!
We kept going the whole way to Jasper.
She stopped in the town to check it out and do a little shopping since it was our most northern point in our journey and our turn around point. We then headed north of town to where we saw the sunset….
And found a cool camp area. We wish we had another day in this area because there was a lot to explore and do.
The next day was the only sunny day so we took advantage and headed south. Our first stop was at the Valley of the 5 lakes where we did a 3 mile hike. The trail was really nice.
And the lakes were even nicer. So pretty….
And of course I had to take a little swim….
This was as close as we got to a paddle….
We left there and headed south. The blue skies made for some great views….
This guy was heading south too on the wrong side of the road!
We got to the icefields a little after 1 p.m. and it was windy and cold! So I stayed in the RV while mommy hiked up to the glacier.

The glacier was cool and you could pay to walk on it or get a bus tour but mommy and I had already been on a glacier so we didn’t feel the need.
It was also very sad how much of the glacier had melted over the years as you can see where it was in 1982…
And even worse is where we were parked and it was a long walk to where it was in 1942…
It was still really cool and surprising how much it changed the weather in this little area…
We left there and got to warmer weather and a sunny day. We passed an area that we think used to be a lake but the water was very low as they had a very warm and dry summer.
We stopped at Bridal Falls, mommy liked how they had the signs showing what each mountain and area were…
We accidentally found the trail down to the falls so we went down there….
And then we found another fall called Parker falls which you could not see from the road.
We felt so grateful for one nice day to get to see all of these amazing sights.
We even got one last picture of Bow Lake. Big difference from the first time that we were there a few days ago when it was covered in smoke. You can read that blog HERE.
It was a very long 2 days of driving but mommy was glad that we stuck around the area because it was worth the 200 miles each way. As you can imagine, we stopped a lot so it took a long time!
Even I was captivated by the views…
There was never a dull moment of nothing to look at.
We ended our day going back to Lake Louise where we started. The sun was in our line of taking pictures so we still didn’t get a good one plus it was packed full of people and mommy was over it by then. We got TONS of amazing photos of other lake that were honestly just as incredible and much less touristy.
We started heading south and continued our adventure. Stay tuned so see what we saw..
