My mommy is the best mommy ever! She took me on a road trip for my 11th birthday!
We headed to Valley of the Fire State Park in Nevada. Unlike the State Parks in California, this one is very dog friendly. I was allowed everywhere but inside the Visitor Center and I didn’t want to go in there anyhow!

Mommy and I camped at Atlatl Campground. It was a good thing that we had electric hookups because it got really cold at night! We cuddled in Spirit.

The temperatures during the day were perfect for hiking. They were cool enough for me, because you shouldn’t hike with your dog when it is too hot. We have fur and we overheat easily.
The first day we hiked 9 miles from our campground. We went to see the prehistoric petroglyphs. They were pretty cool even though I couldn’t understand what they said.

We also hiked to see the Arch Rock and then we ran into this guy! We found out later that he is called “Poodle Rock”.

All of the rocks are shaped really cool. Mommy and I climbed up to the top of the rock formations called Pillar Rocks. We had to hike back to them. On the way we saw Mountain Sheep footprints and Mountain Lion footprints too. We were happy that we didn’t see a lion but we were looking for the sheep! That would have been cool!

On our walk back to camp, we even saw a petrified log! It was a fun day and you can see more photos on our Leash Your Fitness Facebook album. Mommy takes a lot of fun photos!
The next day we drove up to the White Domes hike. It was crazy because just like the name says, the rocks turned white! They were really pretty.

On the way to the White Dome hike, there were a lot of other cool hikes that we stopped at. Our favorite was the Fire Wave Hike. It was really cool and we climbed up a bunch of rocks for some great views.

It was a really fun day and remember to go to our album to see more great photos. Maybe they will inspire you to take a road trip!
The next day was my favorite! I got to do my favorite thing in the whole wide world! I got to go SWIMMING and Rock Jumping!

We took the SUP out on the lake and mommy paddled while I whined to go swimming. I didn’t care that the water was freezing!

It was so much fun being out on the water. We practically had the entire lake to ourself! As a matter of fact, we practically had the entire weekend to ourselves! The trails, campgrounds and now the lake! We love it that way!
The only guy that was around was this guy and he wasn’t afraid of mommy at all. He came walking right up to her while she was inflating the SUP. Don’t worry, I was safe in Spirit. She scared him away with the paddle. It seemed that coyotes liked that area around the lake. We saw one where we camped and heard a bunch of them!

Speaking of camping, we camped near the lake. The water is really low but we camped in a pretty site at Government Wash Road. The best part about it is that is was free! We were boondocking!

It was a really fun weekend. As usual after our active weekends, I was pooped! But you know what they say, “A tired dog is a happy mommy!”

Thanks so much for following our adventures. We love to share them with you and feel free to share them with your friends on your social media pages! And don’t forget to go see more photos on our Facebook album!
Until next time….
