Happy Memorial Day everyone! This holiday weekend, we thought it would be fun to do a workout in the sand, so today’s Move It Monday is sand squat jumps! If you can’t get to a beach, find a park or other area with soft sand to get a great lower body workout and burst of cardio. Repeat these 10 times, rest for 1 minute and do one more set. You can work your way up on these by trying to jump higher or farther, by increasing the number of jumps per set, or by doing more sets.
Your pup’s job is to sit and stay each time you jump. When you have reached the end of the leash, tell your dog to come to you and sit again, then continue the jumps. This is a great way to practice their sit/stay with you moving away from them!
- Start in a squat position with feet shoulder width apart and toes pointed forward (A)

Sand Squat Jumps (A)
- Launch yourself up in the air and forward by bracing your core and pushing from the glutes, quads, and calves (B)
- Land a few inches in front of you, keeping soft knees and steady balance. When you have your balance, jump again. See how far you can get each time!

This exercise will tone your lower body FAST! Let us know how you do!
