The drive from Broken Bow to Lake Catherine State Park in Arkansas was fine. No traffic, it wan’t boring and it went by pretty quick. We have now traveled 1866 miles in in one week! We arrived at camp after dark so we couldn’t see much. We found a vacant spot and for the first time this entire trip, someone offered to help us back up which was a good thing because it was really dark! We got set up and the first thing that we noticed were the bugs! OMG! There was a ton of them. They were so small that they fit through the screens so another first was closing the windows and turning on the AC because it was still 85 degrees! Made us wonder about this spot and what tomorrow would bring!
Woke up to a beautiful lake! We weren’t sure how hot it would get so we headed out on the longest hike in the park, the Dam Mountain Trail. The trails were marked really well and the first thing we got to see was a waterfall! We love waterfalls because it means SWIMMING! Mommy took tons of photos while I swam. Mommy thought that this would be a good place to bring her chair and book and hang out later in the day.

We continued on the Dam Trail. It was a beautiful trail, we felt like we were in the rainforest. We sure don’t see green like this in San Diego and we certainly don’t see so much water! We are in heaven—AGAIN! Check out our short video of the trail.

The trail was 4.5 miles of beauty and we were taking it all in. It was a pretty easy hike although they rated it difficult because of the incline and a few rocks involved. There were even some really pretty purple flowers on the trail. We stopped to see the lake overlook and could see the campground. We decided then that we would go back and get a lake front spot! Why not?

We headed back to camp, unhooked the RV and headed to the office. There was one lake front spot (#42) that was available for the next 2 nights so we took it. It was the perfect spot because I had my own dock diving spot! Can this journey get any better?

I spent hours dock diving. Mommy kept making me take breaks but I was having so much fun. All of the neighbors were taking photos of me and everyone that walked by stopped and talked to mommy about our journey. It was such a fun day. One of the ladies that stopped by was walking two lab puppies, her name was Shelley. Of course mommy asked about them and she started telling mommy a story of how she rescued them in Texas with their 5 siblings (which already got adopted) and now they are traveling with her and her 3 big dogs in their RV. Mommy was so intrigued that the lady came back later and mommy interviewed her for a future blog post so stay tuned, it is a crazy story!
We had to take a break from the action because mommy was on Kelli Corasanti’s, “It Just Takes One” radio show. I got to take a nap while that was happening but it was a great show so make sure you listen. Especially if you want to know the background of this journey of ours!
After the radio show, mommy decided to do a little workout. She sure is finding great places to do her TRX and yoga stuff. This time her workout was overlooking the lake. No deer this time, just a few ducks came by! She still hasn’t found any pullup bars but she is making up for it with all of the paddling she has been doing!
Mommy made dinner and sat and chatted with Shelley until late at night. I went in the RV to sleep because I was tired and I didn’t want to play with the lab puppies.

The next morning we woke up to a beautiful sunrise. The lake was calm so we got out the ISLE inflatable SUP and went on a SUP journey around the lake. Nobody was up yet. It was so quiet. I was a good boy for most of the tour but I couldn’t take it anymore and really wanted to go swimming! Since we got the lake front site, we never went back to the waterfall yesterday so we paddled there and I got to swim while mommy enjoyed the waterfall. She loves waterfalls!

We headed back to camp and had breakfast and I was so excited to go dock diving again. Mommy decided to go swimming with me so she swam while I jumped in time and time again! She finally just got her chair and book and brought it up on the dock so I would stop bugging her to throw the Wubba in!
I finally tired out from swimming so we took a walk up to see Shelley and her RV since her and her 5 dogs were leaving.. We just had to see for ourselves what she was driving with all of those dogs! OMG! A 37′ 1990 RV with a 20′ trailer with a SUV on it! Crazy! We hope that someone adopts those 2 labs because I hate to admit it but they sure are cute! It is pretty cool all of the people that we are meeting and getting to know on this journey. That is what it is all about! (read her story)
We told them goodbye, and headed back to camp. Mommy got some work done and sat and read for awhile and I rested before our hike. We have one more hike, Falls Branch Hike, to do before we leave tomorrow. It started sprinkling a little and it is a little cloudy but we are taking advantage of the beautiful weather. We are so grateful that the good weather gods have been following us! Especially since after we left Oklahoma they had tornados!

Lake Catherine State Park was a awesome find, especially with the dock right at our campsite! Mommy let me jump a few more times in the morning after our hike and before we left for Memphis to visit my Aunt Nancy! Thanks for reading! We hope that our blog posts are inspiring you to get out and do FUN things with your dog. There is so much to see and do in our country, why not get out and explore!
