It was so fun staying with our new friend Isabelle from Paws 4 Fitness and teaching the doggy fitness class in Aurora. Now off to see mommy’s friend Shawn who lives near Boulder, Colorado.
We had a few days to kill before Shawn had a day off so we drove through Boulder and up into the mountains. The drive up the mountain on the 119 to a little town called Nederland was beautiful. I guess Nederland is the base for Estes Park and the ski resort, Eldora.

Mommy saw that there were a few campgrounds on the 119 so we headed out to see if we could find a site. We passed a National Forest Sign with designated camping areas so thought it would be fun to check it out. You can camp anywhere in the National Forest for FREE! We were at the West Magnolia camping area.
Mommy was a little concerned about the road but lucky for us the guy was leaving in the 2nd site! As we pulled in we noticed a tent in the corner but Joseph (the guy in the tent) said it was ok to camp there with him so we did.

I have to admit that I was a little nervous camping in the same site with a stranger but it ended up working out perfect. Joseph was just trying to get back on his feet so he was living in his tent for a while and working in Nederland. Super nice guy and super cute too! (mommy told me to say that!)
What a beautiful area! It was getting late and the clouds were rolling in but we went for a little hike on the West Magnolia Trails anyhow. OMG!! Snow covered mountains, a little pond and trails everywhere! We were in heaven!

We woke up on Monday to a beautiful day! We were so excited to go explore the trails. We met our other neighbors in site 1 on the way to the trailhead. There were 3 of them in that site and they all lived in their tents. Super nice people with crazy life stories of how they got to live in tents. We sure are meeting a lot of interesting people on this trip.
The hike was awesome. . Mommy did a smart thing; she took a photo of the trail map at the kiosk before we left. Glad she did that because there were trails everywhere and we hit most of them! We even hit trails that weren’t on the map!

The 726 was the trail with the great overlook and lots of beautiful wildflowers!

The 727 trail was the one where I could cool off!

The 355 was the road that connected all of the trails and the one with the little pond on it where I could take a swim!

The 925 was the trail that overlooked Nederland. There were a lot of pretty wildflowers. It also had the horse corral and lots of poop for me to roll in!! Mommy was not happy about that. But the good part is that I got to go swimming again to get rinsed off! Pretty smart, huh?

After hiking 11 miles we were done for the day. We loved camping in the National Park. Our neighbors came over to see how we liked the trails and we told them about trails that they didn’t even know about!
The next morning we got up early to get to Boulder so mommy could get a little work done at Starbucks before we met Shawn since we didn’t have WI-FI here. We gave Joseph a ride to work in Nederland. We wish him the best.
It was so fun to see Shawn. I haven’t seen her since I was a puppy! We hiked up Chautauqua Mountain in Boulder to the Flatitrons. It was a very busy place, good thing we got there early to get RV parking. It was a little warm so I would suggest leaving early if you are going to do this hike with your pup. We stopped a lot in the shade so the girls could chat and I could cool off.

It was a really beautiful hike. We hiked up between the 1st and 2nd Flatitron. It was really rocky.

Lots of great photo opportunities!

Question for you: Which Cairn do you think is the cutest?

After the hike we went for lunch in Boulder to the Pearl Street Mall. The entire mall is outside but it is not dog friendly! Can you believe that? The nice guy at Illegal Pete’s on the corner said that we could eat on their patio as long as I didn’t bite anyone. It was a deal! Plus mommy said the food was AWESOME!
We spent the night at Shawn’s house in Broomfield, CO. Shawn has 2 very cute little girls and a cute Boxer puppy. We took everyone for a walk when we got home and this is what we saw….

Mommy was happy to get a shower at Shawn’s house and I was happy to find a comfy bed to sleep in!

We really love Boulder, Colorado. It is a cool town! You can tell everyone is super active here!
