What People Are Saying...

What the
veterinarians have to say:
As a
veterinary surgeon, I know the importance of exercise in
maintaining a healthy lifestyle for your pet. Obesity
is a leading cause of numerous health and orthopedic
conditions in dogs and has been shown to shorten their
life span. Exercise is important to help lower the
incidence of obesity.
Leash your
Fitness is an excellent combination of exercise and
obedience for you and your dog. Personally, my dog Kai
and I participate in the boot camp and we both get a
great workout. Kai is a calmer, happier dog on the days
we can go to boot camp and I know that keeping him
physically fit will help him live a long, healthy life.

What Class Participants have to
say:
I know
that LYF has definitely helped me in my quest to lose weight, become
stronger and more toned, and to do something fun and different with
Logan. Because of the stress of a family illness in 2009, I gained 30
pounds. I started dieting in January and lost 10lbs and hit a plateau. I
heard about LYF and decided to give it a try. When we went to our first
class I couldn't even do one push-up. I was sore for several days after
wards but I was hooked. The class was so much fun that an hour flew by
in no time. At the end I felt like saying "it's over already?!" Since
starting LYF I have lost another 20 lbs. I am stronger, faster,
more toned, and have dramatically increased my stamina and energy. Logan
has even lost a few lbs. Everyone comments on how fit he looks. He loves
going to class and has made so many new doggie friends. He has surprised
me by mastering all the agility exercises too! It's been very rewarding
for both of us and now my husband is coming too! Thanks so much for all
the effort you put into making LYF fun and a great total-body workout!
~ Laurie and Logan
I went to my first LYF Bootcamp because it was FREE.
Between Mango's behavioral issues and my old injuries &
chronic pain issues I really didn't expect to make it
through the class (I figured we would be left in the
dust or asked to leave). I had no idea how it would
change my life!
Support & encouragement from Dawn & crew & fellow
bootcampers make the challenges motivating rather than
overwhelming. And plenty of laughter makes it a blast!
The dog trainers have some great tips & techniques that
really help out in the real world.
Working with Dawn in some 1:1 sessions has kept me from
injuring myself further & greatly reduced my pain
issues. I am proud to say I am 25 pounds lighter &
generally feel better than I have in years. I am
learning things about myself and being healthy that I
can reasonably maintain, build on & use throughout my
life! YES!
Most of all, I am thrilled by how well Mango is doing.
She is calmer, easier to focus & her social skills
continue to improve. Daily life is alot less
frustrating. We are much more bonded & alot happier with
each other! We couldn't have done it without LYF!

Marcy used to be a
"problem child" before Leash Your Fitness- she's a border
collie/Labrador retriever mix and by the time she was 1, we knew we had
to make a serious commitment to some obedience training. She is smart,
but with an attention deficit problem, whining when she was bored, never
wanting to sit still for more than 10 seconds, chewing on
everything/everyone. I was growing bored with same old step aerobics,
running, strength training, and wanted to spend more time with Marcy AND
improve my fitness to tackle the America's Finest Half marathon for the
first time. Dawn and LYF classes helped both of us, channeling Marcy's
border collie energy into learning the agility course moves and cardio
intervals which engaged her mind and body, and got me fit. We both
noticed positive changes within a few weeks. I did my 1st half marathon
in 2009 at age 47 (and then improved on my PR thanks to LYF in 2010).
Both of us have great fun with our LYF friends at the classes and
special events, visiting places in San Diego County that we might not
have explored by ourselves. Dawn is a great trainer, cheerleader, pack
leader, and above all, role model for all of us who want to be fit
and have fun with our best friends (both human and canine).

Prior to
being in the "Leash Your Fitness" classes, I was trying
to walk my dogs several days a week but was concerned
that I was doing nothing to improve my upper body
strength and balance. Although I still can't stand on
one leg for any length of time, it is improving. Now
being able to take the classes twice a week, has really
helped to improve my overall strength and stamina. Added
benefits are doing the classes with my daughter,
enjoying the company of my two Golden Retrievers and
meeting many other fun participants. Thanks for teaching
these unique classes.

"As
a former Spinning, Step and Body Pump instructor, I know
that a
demanding workout gives me the results I need. I got a
great work out
and I did it with my best friend! What a fantastic
concept! I had so
much fun, and so did Lucky. In fact, he went to bed and
slept most of
the day, while I felt great and know I burned a lot of
calories . . . We
can't wait to come again. Thanks Dawn!"
~ Natalie W. & Lucky
"Since I've been
working out with Dawn and Jack I've lost 10 lbs! I don't like working
out but I love Leash Your Fitness! Paxton, my standard poodle, and I
have fun while we're doing some serious sweat'n. And the dog obedience
in class has really improved Paxton's manners."
