Road trip to Nevada

Road trip to Nevada

My mommy is the best mommy ever! She took me on a road trip for my 11th birthday! We headed to Valley of the Fire State Park in Nevada.  Unlike the State Parks in California, this one is very dog friendly. I was allowed everywhere but inside the Visitor Center and I didn’t want to go in there anyhow!     Mommy and I camped at Atlatl Campground.  It was a good thing that we had electric hookups because it got really cold at night!  We cuddled in Spirit.     The temperatures during the day were perfect for hiking. Beet Dog Treats

Beet Dog Treats

This is a yummy vegan recipe to make for Valentines weekend!  Because chocolate is poisonous to dogs and many dogs have wheat allergies, our friend Cathy made a few changes so our pups could enjoy them too!  We had our taste test last night after class in the dark and both the 2 leggers and 4 leggers agreed, they were YUMMY!! Busy Weekend

Busy Weekend

Wow!!  I am so tired!  Mommy kept us busy last weekend.  It all started with our news segment with KUSI news.  They asked us to come on to help inspire others to get out and do fun activities with their dogs.         It was drizzling a little but we didn’t care.  My friends demonstrated some yoga moves while mommy explained to the news people about all of the fun stuff that we do.  The guy behind the camera was freaking out some of my friends.  I wouldn’t even look at him! Next time the camera man better […]

Mix Things Up

Mix Things Up

This is a really fun drill to do with your dog.  You can do it anywhere!  A tennis court or a field work great.  We do them in baseball fields in our Leash Your Fitness classes. Remember that when you make your dog think, it tires him/ her faster than just a walk alone.  There is nothing that makes your dog think more than switching things up. To do this drill, start by walking forward with Fido.  Then switch things up! Start running or walking backwards.  Fido will be like where are we going?   Then switch things up again […]

The Dog Who Saved Me

The Dog Who Saved Me

The Dog Who Saved Me, by Susan Wilson As usual, Susan Wilson does not disappoint. I’ve really enjoyed the author’s foray into “dog books” in recent years. She has a way of telling familiar stories, with an interesting, and slightly different, twist. With each of her books, her skill and talent as a storyteller improves and while The Dog Who Danced is probably still my favorite of hers, The Dog Who Saved Me is her best work yet. Our story begins with former K-9 officer, Cooper Harrison, struggling to reconcile his life after the loss of his partner, and watching […]
